Ultrasound Patient

OB/GYN Group of Manchester is proud to be an ACR accredited ultrasound facility. The American College of Radiology has rigorous rules and regulations that we must follow in order to be recognized by them.

The ultrasound equipment must meet ACR requirements, as well as the ultrasound technologists who are performing our scans. All physicians must also complete continuing education requirements in order to be certified by them.

Obstetrical and Gynecological ultrasound scans are performed in our Manchester office. Trans abdominal or Trans vaginal scanning can both be performed. 3D sonography may be available for your obstetrical scan.

We also offer our patients sonohysterography, which is used for a more complete uterine evaluation in the gynecology patient. Sonohysterography is used to help with the diagnosis of fibroids and or polyps. A small amount of sterile saline is placed into the uterus through a thin, soft plastic catheter. The saline provides the contrast in the uterus, to visualize the lining, while the ultrasound is being preformed. This procedure does not hurt, but can be a little uncomfortable. Ibuprofen may be taken before the exam to decrease any discomfort.

Non-Diagnostic Use of Ultrasound

As Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, we are committed to act in the best interest of the patient and to maintain ethical standards to preserve and promote professionalism. Therefore, we do not allow videotaping of obstetrical ultrasound exams.
