Your doctor has requested a sonohysterogram be scheduled for you. This is a special ultrasound procedure and involves both the ultrasound technologist and your doctor. This procedure should be done within 5-10 days after the start of your menstrual period.
Both the ultrasound technician and physician will perform the sonohysterogram. This procedure should take approximate 20-30 minutes.
Sometimes, depending whether or not you have had a gyn ultrasound recently a preliminary ultrasound prior to the scheduling of the sonohysterogram may be necessary. This will be determine by your provider.
It may be helpful to take Advil or Alleve prior to coming to the office, as the exam may make you feel somewhat crampy.
Your doctor will review the findings of the procedure with you that day, and explain your options.
If for any reason you need to cancel this exam and reschedule it, please be sure the appointment secretary knows you need a "sonohysterogram", not a regular ultrasound.
If you have any questions, feel free to call Linda in the U/S department at (860)-647-8050 ext 116.
Thank You
